Dubravka Bakran - Textile Constructor

Dubravka Bakran has been with us almost since the very beginning, and with her experience, calm demeanor, and precision, she makes an invaluable contribution to the development of every new product.
Dubravka’s story begins in 2011, when she joined Prostoria as a textile constructor in the development department. But her journey in textiles began much earlier – she graduated from high school as a clothing technician, and her passion for construction, materials, and details has remained a constant throughout her career.
„In the beginning, there were only a few of us – we worked on the first collections with a lot of enthusiasm, side by side with the director. We were fearless. There were no established processes, everything was developed on the go, in real time, but that taught us to think fast and react even faster. Looking back now, I’m proud that as a team we created so many recognizable products.“
Over the years, Dubravka has been and remains a vital part of the development team – a steady force who uses her knowledge and experience to solve challenges that often can't be anticipated in advance. For many years, she worked on creating garment constructions for new products, developing sewing methods for outer covers, and preparing digital patterns for serial production. She has contributed to numerous projects, but she particularly remembers the Revolve sofa – the first model developed in collaboration with designers.
„Everything was new, we started from scratch. It was important to all of us that it turned out perfectly. It was stressful, but also incredibly fulfilling because we did it together.“
Today, Dubravka works on fabric cutting for reupholstering worn-out furniture through Prostoria’s sustainability platform – Štof. In these projects, old pieces are given new life, adapted to contemporary materials while preserving their original character – something that’s deeply meaningful to their owners.
„Expectations are high at Prostoria – and rightly so. Every day, we solve tangible production challenges and strive to find the best possible solutions. Without teamwork, that wouldn’t be possible. I’d dare to say that collaboration is the most important part of it all.“
An interesting detail is that Dubravka has spent all these years working side by side with her husband, Mladen Bakran, who is also a member of the development team.
„We started this journey together on day one. There have been tough moments, but the support we can give each other has been a great strength. It’s still like that today – and I hope it stays that way for a long time.“
