Robert Pavalic – Mechatronics Technician

At Prostoria, we often emphasize how much we value knowledge, curiosity, and the willingness to step beyond the familiar. Robert Pavalić is an excellent example of this very approach to work – engineering-precise, yet always ready to explore the unknown. A trained mechatronics technician, Robert joined Prostoria in 2023 after nearly five years of working in the automotive industry.

“Before joining Prostoria, I worked for a company where I designed tools for car body parts for well-known brands – VW, Porsche, BMW, and even TESLA. Some tools weighed up to 30 tons. I worked exclusively in an office, with no contact with production. The job was focused on 2D and 3D tool design and calculations of forces and machine kinematics. Today, it’s completely different – everything I design, I also have to know how to execute.”

At Prostoria, Robert works in new product development – from technical 3D modeling of furniture and creating CNC programs for all necessary materials and machines, to making molds for molded foam. In every project, he sees an opportunity to explore new approaches, innovations, and creative technical solutions.

“Every day brings something new. Designers often come up with ideas that initially seem technically unfeasible, but with patience, testing, and compromise – we get there. The initial and final product are almost never the same, because we constantly find ways to make things better, stronger, and easier to manufacture. We’re continuously modifying products – especially during the prototyping phase, when changes happen daily, but even after that phase, in smaller steps.”

One particularly interesting experience was the development of the Buffo sofa, where he worked closely with the team.

“At one point, we had two three-seaters assembled with six different backrest designs, just so we could test the ergonomics and visually pick the best variant. In the end, we chose one of the first designs, with only minor changes. And that shows – just because we change something, doesn’t mean the previous version was wrong. Often, we build something based on a 3D model, quickly adjust it in reality, then revise the digital model – and repeat the cycle.”

Robert emphasizes how important it is for him to have direct contact with materials, machines, and production processes: “I’ve learned more at Prostoria than I could have anywhere else. Here, knowledge constantly expands, and what you know today – you build upon tomorrow. That’s what motivates me.”

We are proud to have people like Robert on our team – engineers with vision, experts who seamlessly connect theory and practice, and colleagues whose knowledge makes a difference. At Prostoria, we foster exactly this kind of environment – a space where ideas are developed, knowledge is shared, and every challenge becomes an opportunity for growth.
